Jobs and the Economy

Congress, government in general, cannot create jobs. Congress should do the following to encourage job growth and economic expansion:

1.    Reduce the size and scope of government

2. Reduce regulations to the bare minimum. 10,000 pages of regulations per month, is not only absurd, but it consumes more trees then a team of busy beavers.

3.    Cut all personal and corporate taxes to zero and enact the Fair Tax.

Immigration

With the exception of Native Americans, we are all descendants of immigrants. The main difference between immigrants of the past and today is that immigrants of the past did not come here with their hand out. They came with the hope of making a better life for themselves through hard work and personal responsibility. While there are still some immigrants today who come here with those same work ethics, unfortunately, there are too many who come here for the freebies: shelter, food, healthcare, education. We need to remove these incentives and you will see the number of illegal immigrants drop dramatically. It is also time that states start invoking their constitutional rights to control immigration in their borders, as well as their expectation from the federal government to protect them from invasion.

Education

The federal government has absolutely no authority (other than what it has assumed through complacency) controlling the education of America’s youth. I would vote to abolish the Department of Education and let the state and local governments decide how to handle their educational needs.

Healthcare

Government should no more be involved with healthcare than Blue Cross/Blue Shield should be involved in writing legislation. High cost, fraud, and complicated procedures are the direct result of complex attempts by the government to manage something they are not qualified to address. Get government out of the way and let the free market, capitalistic system drive the costs down.

Energy

According to some sources, we have more natural energy; gas, coal and oil than the rest of the world combined. I believe we should announce that we are going to start drilling, tapping and fracking at breakneck speed. This will not only create millions of jobs but would cause an immediate drop in oil prices. The added bonus is that we cut our dependence on other nations (some who want to kill us)

Right to Bear Arms

The Second Amendment is quite clear on this matter. The only problem we are having is that the Progressives refuse to accept what is written.

Foreign Policy

Our policy should be “Just like a good neighbor, we’re there SHOULD you need us.” We cannot afford more than 900 bases in over 135 countries while our national debt exceeds our GDP! We must accept that fact America cannot be the policeman of the world. We must have clear and precise terms that serve as the litmus test before getting involved in foreign matters.

1.    What is our stated purpose for involvement?

2.    What is our stated goal?

3.    How long will we remain involved?

4.    What is the estimated cost for our involvement? Estimate low to high and set cap that cannot be exceeded for any reason.

5.    Who will pay for our involvement?

6.    What assets is the country receiving aid able to place as collateral?

7.    What is the exit strategy?
